A native of Atlanta, Alex has helped hundreds of people buy and sell residential homes since October of 2003. Alex, who is bilingual and fluent in both English and Spanish, started off as a buyer’s agent in Gwinnett County. He took loan certification programs offered at his first brokerage to better assist the first time homebuyer.

“I am a Realtor, not a loan officer, but I have found that having a good working knowledge of loans puts buyers at ease. I let the loan officers give advice but most of my buyers feel comfortable knowing that I know enough to accurately answer their questions and ease their fears. I would rather give someone buying too much information as opposed to not enough. I basically try to treat every buyer and seller the same way I would treat my mother or close family member."

Alex broke into new home sales with an award-winning builder in Gwinnett County. He won a Gold award from the Home Builders Association with personal sales exceeding 7.9 million in 2006. He is a Certified New Homes Professional as well as a seasoned buyers agent.

To give some context into how valuable your services were for my wife and I please let me explain. While living in Florida we searched for over a year, looking at over 100 homes and placing just shy of 10 offers that went into multiple bidding cycles yet to our amazement we were unsuccessful. I first met Alex Merlo in August 2011 when I first started searching for a new home for my family. He was very courteous and friendly from the beginning and listened to my desires in a new home. He found several homes that suited my needs and walked me through each of them discussing the different aspects of each, including the pros and cons of each option. He was always on time for appointments, and did a good job at showing me every house. His emails always arrived fast and they were friendly.
